One police sergeant who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knife attacker was granted the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a blade to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

"Policeman knifed," the officer stated over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam video made public by the force showed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a weapon outstretched.

He ran into the policeman who stumbled and went down to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the ground even though being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a safe opportunity, bringing the struggle to an end.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need something on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his neck and more injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered slash wounds.

The department stated Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's blood loss before medical personnel came.

This most recent honor comes subsequent to the three officers won departmental Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area Police Federation in early 2024.

They additionally received a Area Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The efforts of all three officers eventually protected one another and meant no members of the public endured any wounds."

Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, per authorities.
